Admission requirements

This course is a mandatory subject of the Child Neuropsychology track. Students who follow the Adult and old age Neuropsychology track, can take this course as an elective. For students from other specialisations an advanced Bachelor course on Clinical Neuropsychology is highly recommended.

Description

This course provides the theoretical foundation for neuropsychological assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, through a consideration of views and theories related to neurodevelopmental disorders. A range of topics will be discussed, including ADHD, autism, prematurity, and epilepsy. This course aims to provide an understanding of the neurological and neuropsychological characteristics associated with each of these conditions. Additionally, it addresses topics related to clinical neuropsychological assessment, from a developmental perspective.

Mode of instruction

The main objective of this course is to obtain a detailed understanding of the core issues in child neuropsychology, with particular relevance for clinical practice.

The course consists of 7 lectures, which are mandatory. All lecturers are experts in the field of child neuropsychology, working within an academic and/or clinical setting.

Assessment method

Active participation in the course, and a written exam, consisting of both multiple-choice and essay questions.
