Special functions (TUD)

Course
2010-2011

Special functions are functions which have been given a separate name, and the properties of which have been investigated in more detail, for reasons of their occurrence in practical problems. In this course an introduction to this venerable discipline is given, covering topics such as the gamma and beta function, hypergeometric functions, Bessel functions and confluent hypergeometric functions, orthogonal polynomials, introduction to q-series, and asymptotic expansions.
