Admission to MSc Psychology (research)

Description

This course consists of small-group interactive seminars and covers topics such as brain structure and functioning in relation to psychopathology, biological treatment, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Students will work together on an assignment and prepare an oral presentation on biological aspects of psychiatric disorders.
Recent topics for assignments were “The impact of psychotherapy and medication on brain functioning.” and “Why and how do adverse events in childhood lead to (psycho)pathology?”.

Course objectives

Acquire basic knowledge about biological aspects of (psycho)pathology. Acquire in-depth knowledge of specific issues regarding the research questions addressed during the course.

Mode of instruction

Seminars including a work visit to a mental health organisation.

Assessment method

Quality of written essay and presentation of results.
