Admission requirements

Participants should have knowledge of Akkadian grammar and of Old Babylonian cuneiform writing.

Description

Reading of omens from the Old Babylonian period and their religious and historical context.

Course objectives

Knowledge of
The Old Babylonian language and cuneiform
The Old Babylonian period
History and culture of Babylonia

Transliterating cuneiform
Analysing and translating Akkadian from the Old Babylonian period
Use of dictionaries, sign lists and hand books
