Description

This seminar focuses on the architecture and role that business information systems play in large-scale enterprises. During the seminar, students prepare various presentations based on company visits. Students work in teams to develop a research project for topics that these companies provide. The results of this research is provided to the companies, and presented to them in a formal presentation.

Course objectives

Students will gain:

  • An understanding of the architecture and functionality of business information systems.

  • A first-hand insight into the role that enterprise software systems play in large organisations.

  • An understanding of some of the challenges that organisations face in deploying, maintaining, and evolving mixed architecture software systems.

  • Experience in writing and presenting a research document in a business oriented environment.

Mode of instruction

Weekly seminars of 2 hours, team-based project work, and company visits are part of the course.

Assessment method

  • Active participation: 20%

  • Presentations: 30%

  • Research Report: 50%
