Description

In Buddhist Perspectives on Environmental Ethics, we will study recent publications on Buddhist environmental ethics to ask: How do these texts relate to Buddhist sources? Are the perspectives developed in the texts merely inspired by the sources they draw from? Or do they offer a close interpretation of them? Do they deliberately attempt to develop a standpoint which is to some extent independent of the sources that informs their position? Based on this analysis, we will, then, judge how the relation to these sources impacts the text’s perspective on Buddhist environmental ethics.
