Description
An internship offers a wonderful opportunity to gain insight in the job market for Arts, Media and Society graduates. By doing an internship, you start to build your resume while gaining practical working experience and broadening your professional network. You can take an internship in the free elective space of your third year, for 10, 15 or 20 ec (an internship of 20 ec means 14 weeks full time work).

Course objectives
Students learn to independently complete academic research tasks related to the field of Arts, Media and Society at a third-year level in institutions such as museums, galleries, governmental institutions, NGOs, publishing agencies, etc. Tasks could include art historical and archival research, literature research for exhibitions or publishing agencies, contribution to the development of an educational programme, helping to define a marketing strategy, or policy making in the cultural field.
Students broaden their knowledge of the work field of Arts, Media and Society graduates and learn to reflect on their own performance and capacities in the workplace.
Students learn to present their work experience in a clear and well-argued internship report. Students learn to present the results of their internship research in a clear and well-argued research report (either as an appendix to the internship report or as a separate document)
Students adapt social and communicative skills in order to successfully collaborate with co-workers.
Students learn to plan their tasks realistically, and learn to adhere to agreed time-schedules and priorities.

Mode of instruction
Supervision on the performance of both the research and practical tasks at an internship institution based on the internship plan. The student will be supervised on a regular basis during the internship by a professional staff member from the internship institute. The student will also be supervised by one of the staff members of the department of art history. An interview between the student, the institute supervisor and the department supervisor will take place halfway the course of the internship.

Assessment
The Board of Examiners appoints the academic internship supervisor, who will grade your internship results. The institutional internship supervisor needs to fill in an evaluation about the internship, which they will share with their academic internship supervisor. An internship is graded based on the communication with both supervisors about the internship, the preparation for the internship project, the student’s performance at the internship institution, the internship report and the final product of the internship.

Inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
