Vak
2022-2023

Admission requirements

Regular MA admission.

Description

A course of eight consecutive weeks taught at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo (NVIC) and on various locations throughout Egypt. It usually includes: (1) a brief introduction to everyday life in Cairo; (2) an introduction to the practical aspects of research in Egypt, including work in museums and scholarly institutes;(3) the in-depth study of a selected number of archaeological or monumental sites, some of which will be visited during excursions. The details of the program are subject to variation.

For an impression of the program, see the NVIC website, but please note that the program is subject to variation annually.

Please note that we will act in accordance with the travel advice issued by Leiden University and KU Leuven concerning student mobility abroad. The university generally only allows travel to areas that are classified as green or yellow according to Dutch governmental travel advice. This means that the time in Cairo will depend on the colour code of Egypt. We will keep you updated on any developments.
