Admission requirements

The Capita Selecta Industrial Ecology module can be taken as an individual specialisation course for students of the MSc Industrial Ecology (joint degree between Leiden University and TU Delft). It is not open to students from other Master programmes.

Description

A Capita Selecta is not a regular course, but refers to an additional piece of work, which is not covered by any other course or part of the programme. It is a way of receiving study credits for a ‘course’ designed yourself. It can have the form of a separate piece of scientific research which results in a report or some other tangible product, an individual course on the basis of literature and other sources, a literature review or any other scientific piece of work. A Capita Selecta is always supervised by a core examiner of the MSc Industrial Ecology programme. The list of core examiners can be found on the general Industrial Ecology Brightspace page. Approval of the Board of Examiners is needed before the start of the Capita Selecta, the proposal form for a Capita Selecta can be found on the MSc Industrial Ecology Brightspace page.

Depending on the workload of the project, the Industrial Ecology Capita Selecta Module can equal 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 EC.

Registrations

A Capita Selecta can be part of the 35 ECTS for Specialisation courses. However, approval of the Board of Examiners is needed before the start of the Capita Selecta.

If you are planning do a Capita Selecta please send the following documents to the Board of Examiners via BoE-ie@cml.leidenuniv.nl

  • your Individual Study Programme (ISP Excel document)

  • your Capita Selecta proposal form, including a description, learning objectives, final deliverable(s), involved examiner(s) and their written approval, and study load of the Capita Selecta (between 2-6 ECTS)

After approval by the Board of Examiners to include the specific Capita Selecta as Specialisation course, please register for the Capita Selecta course via MyStudyMap. Use the course code that matches the studyload of your approved Capita Selecta. By registering in MyStudyMap, you will get access to the Brightspace page to upload your final product.
