Admission requirements

Required course(s):

None.

Description

This course is a high-level introduction to a dynamic and growing field of health and social innovations.

This course will expose students to the latest innovations happening in various segments of the healthcare industry. On one hand, theoretical and practical understanding of information pathways in the health industries will introduce students to ‘venues’ for health innovators. On the other hand, the course will focus on understanding how AI can be leveraged for social good. It will introduce AI concepts such as data mining, machine learning, decision making and optimization, influence maximization in networks, and game theory in the context of informing applications in health, sustainability, climate change, agriculture, and well-being among others. Case presentations and guest speakers will follow a didactic component to showcase practical applications.

In this course, we will enhance the group learning experience and learning by doing, therefore, there will be many class activities. This course is designed for everyone, so no programming background is required or desired.
