Vak
2025-2026

Admission requirements

A student can only start the chosen second year track once the student has passed the first year courses belonging to that track:

  • Epidemiology track, belonging courses: Fundamentals, Study Design, Responsible Data Analyses, Panel Management

  • Governance track, belonging courses: Fundamentals, Governance, Alternative Payment Models, Implementation

  • Data Science track, belonging courses: Fundamentals, Study Design, Responsible Data Analyses, Predictive Analytics

  • Syndemics track, belonging courses: Fundamentals, Health and Health Behaviour, Syndemics, Panel Management

Description

Students design their own tailormade programme for the third semester electives (30ECTS, free format), based on their personal values and goals and their chosen intended learning outcomes. The programme should be balanced on PHM Master level having a clear relation with one or more PHM topics like data, network governance, syndemics, payment and behaviour. Importantly the students must link the activities for their electives with their chosen intended learning outcomes. The process of designing the plan for the third semester is guided by the tutors and track coordinators during the 1st year. Students may choose to do a (professional or research) internship and/or follow courses, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The plan for the third semester electives is subject of approval of the Board of Examiners

Course objectives

Students continue to develop on their chosen personal and professional development goals and the PHM competences (population health management expert, academic skills, data driven thinking and acting, eclectic thinking and acting, deliberative thinking and acting, transformative skills).

Assessment method

There are different assessment methods, depending on the chosen programme.

  • Courses will be assessed as described in the course description, including the retake in case of an insufficient grade.

  • For internships, students choose the products, weights of the products and assessment criteria by which they wish to be evaluated. The assessment criteria are closely linked to the PHM competences. In case of an insufficient grade, the Board of Examiners determines the manner of resit.
