Description

This course is intended for MA students, non-native speakers of Georgian. Georgian is one of the world’s oldest languages. It is very important and interesting from a linguistic point of view, as well as from cultural and anthropological points of view. In this course some general issues of the modern Georgian verb will be analyzed, such as: 1. Subject person and number, 2. Object Person and number, 3. System of the Georgian Verb – Series and screeves (tenses), 4. Grammatical categories of the Georgian verb, among them, specific for Georgian: version and contact (causative) 5. Conjugation system of the modern Georgian verb: 5.1. I first conjugation; 5.2. II conjugation 5.3. III Conjugation, 5.4. IV Conjugation.
And as the course is intended as an introduction to modern Georgian verb, practical exercises will be presented as well.

  • To develop students’ necessary insights for analyzing Georgian verb data.

  • To make students practically use their Georgian speaking skills

Inspection and feedback

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
