An in depth confrontation with various models dealing with the evolution of the human niche, with a heavy emphasis on studies of Neandertal energetics, life histories and hunting difficulties, and application of these to the Neandertal fossil and archaeological record encountered in the ‘Palaeolithic Europe’ course.

BA degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or a relevant discipline.
