What is the relation between truth and intellectual virtues such as accuracy and sincerity? What kind of value is truth? And why are humans obsessed with truth? Bernard Williams addresses these questions in Truth and Truthfulness, both from an analytic perspective, and in the tradition of Nietzsche’s genealogy. Besides Williams’ book, papers by Brandom, Davidson, Dummett and Rorty will be read on truth, assertion, knowledge and belief.
