Klassiek Egyptisch I

Vak
2008-2009

Following a short outline of the few significant differences between Old and Middle Egyptian grammar, the course develops skills in reading hieroglyphic texts from these two stages of the language. The texts are more secular than religious and typically fall into the autobiographical and historical genres; the theme for 2008 will be texts bearing on royal ideology. Some secondary literature will also be read and discussed in connection with the primary material.
