Description
This course on Dutch art will mostly cover visual art of the Netherlands. The course is organized chronologically and discusses various forms of art in their respective historical and theoretical contexts. Starting with the Flemish Primitives, visual art and Golden Age material culture in the Northern Netherlands, the course will continue with the different aspects of modernism in the late 19th and early 20th century, focusing on Vincent van Gogh, De Stijl, Piet Mondriaan and Cobra.
