Seminar covering a range of anthropological and archaeological case studies, evaluating their analytical potential for Native American Studies.
Learning objectives
Knowledge of and insight in a number of ethnographic studies from around the world;
Is able to appreciate, understand and have insight in the complexities of the case studies at hand;
Is able to apply insights gained from these case-studies to other archaeological study-areas or topics in a comparatively viable and sound manner;
Is able to understand the theoretical framework underpinning studies and recognize their impact on perception and presentation of data;
Is able to recognize both cross-cultural universal as well as cultural specific behaviour and expressions;
Is able to formulate opinions and insights in brief structured essays (e.g. wiki-entries) and in class discussions, with expression of a critical assessment of the literature and one’s own well-argumented opinion.

Examination
Active participation in discussions (prepared discussion points) of recent and classic literature and research, writing of six wiki entries (900-1000 words).
