The large scale excavations of the last interglacial (MIS5e) Middle Palaeolithic site at Neumark Nord 2 (Germ, any) have yielded huge amounts of find material, ten thousands of lithic artefacts as well as bone fragments. The laboratory study of this find material and its geological and environmental setting will be an important topic of research within the Human Origins group for the next years. Students participate in this research by submitting (samples of) the lithic assemblages to a detailed technological study and by placing these in the context of the environmental proxies studied within the department as well as elsewhere, notably by our colleagues at Monrepos (Germany).
