Beschrijving
This two-day workshop by Dr Annette Carruthers, a reknowned scholar from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, will address key issues of research after the Arts and Crafts Movement in Scotland and England. In two seminars leading figures such as Glasgow-based Charles and Margaret Mackintosh and artist’s communities in the English Cotswolds will be discussed. The seminars serve as basis for a written paper as assignment. The workshop can be attended as individual practical component in the overall MA programme for 5 ec. Students of all MA and Mphil tracks are welcome to join the workshop.
The workshop will be continued after the first two sessions with one mort lecture at the end of February, possibly on Japan and art nouveau, and another lecture at April on French art nouveau artist Emile Galle.
Next to the sessions on Arts and Crafts in Scotland one or two more sessions shall be given on Japonisme and art nouveau by Professor Yoko Tagaki, from Tokyo, Japan.
These lectures will probably take place on Monday feb 15 from 15.30-17.30 and/or Tuesday feb 16 from either 10-12 or from 15.30-17.30.
