Regular MA admission requirements
Description
Reading of literary and/or documentary texts in Hebrew, Aramaic or other languages covered by the degree programme (such as Ugaritic, Phoenician etc.); to be determined in consultation with the teacher. Recent options include, for example, newly discovered Ugaritic prose texts, advanced Biblical Hebrew from a philological point of view, Hebrew and Aramaic texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls and others.
Course objectives
Following completion of this course, students are able to independently read and critically evaluate difficult texts in their respective source language; they have furthermore acquired a profound knowledge of the tools used, such as scholarly dictionaries, reference grammars and text-critical editions. In the seminar, students discuss the relevant material, both orally and in writing.
