BA Indonesian Studies or equivalent
Description
This research seminar looks into various aspects of political economy. Special attention is given to the nexus between private business and political power using concrete examples from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in particular. A second category of topics is in the field of international political economy, including a comprehensive study of external relations of ASEAN with China, Japan and the United States. Specific topics for discussion and individual research range from bilateral trading arrangement to security issues.

To gain a thorough understanding of the concepts of political economy and their application to the ASEAN member states.
