Description
This course gives students an introduction to the policy-and decision-making practice of the UN Security Council, in particular as for sanctions measures. Defining and analyzing the international sanctions scene as a changing and challenged one, students learn to think critically about restrictive measures and their use. In addition, they will gain a good understanding of the role that regional actors play in the maintenance of international peace and security, exploring the EU’s functioning at the UN Security Council and looking into the EU’s implementation of the sanctions decisions taken by that body.
