Goal
Obtain knowledge and skills about neural networks and related statistical learning methods.
Description
The course Neural Networks consists of a series of lectures in which several neural network models, neural network learning algorithms and other statistical learning methods will be discussed. There may be a series of lab assignments.
Examination & Grading
Examination will take place through the aforementioned assignments and/or a written exam. The final grade will be a weighted average of the exam grade and the assignment grades.
Material
Use is made of the book Introduction to the Theory of Neural Computation, written by Hertz, Krogh en Palmer, Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, ISBN 0-201-51560-1. Handouts and papers from the neural network literature supplement this book.
