Space law & policy: case studies

Each year two specific topics will be studied in depth and from various angles (legal, political, but also economic and technological). Several guest lecturers from various disciplines and involved with the subject will be invited, so that a global understanding can be obtained. The course will be conducted in the form of a case study and active participation from the students in the extensive discussions is required. Assessment is based on class participation. Examples of topics are: telecommunications, the International Space Station, space tourism, Galileo, etc.

Onderwijsvormen

This course consists of two full days of intensive exchanges between lecturers and students, usually also including an excursion (for instance to ESA/Estec).Students, working in teams, are actively encouraged to reflect critically on the theoretical and practical issues presented. They can also be asked to carry out advance research on certain questions, and present the result of their reflections on the day itself.
