A strong research proposal is key to a new scholar’s academic success. In this course students will go through the process of developing their own research proposal, aimed at submission to a PhD program. Students will choose a research topic that is of interest to them and develop, piece by piece, a research proposal on this topic over the duration of the course. Class sessions will involve group discussions of individual projects and also one-on-one discussions with the instructor. Throughout the course, students will learn the critical elements of a successful proposal and how to apply these to their own research.
