Degree students (including Dutch BA graduates): BA degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or a relevant discipline.

SAP and Exchange Students: BA degree. Admission only after formal application.

Description

This course revolves around current and emerging themes in Classical and Mediterranean research. A choice of themes will be studied and discussed in class, followed by presentations of and discussions with experts in the field.
Finally, the findings will be presented in short essays and/or presentations.

Course objectives

The purpose of this course is to inform the class about current research directions, methods and theories, and to encourage students to formulate and express their own views in class and on paper.

Ects distribution

The course load will be distributed as follows:

  • Lectures (1 ects);

  • Essays and presentation (4 ects).

Mode of instruction

Students will study texts for each theme, prepare questions for the speakers, and present final assessments in short presentations and/or papers.

Assessment method

  • Short presentation;

  • Paper;

  • Active participation in class discussions.

Assessment deadline

The deadline for the paper is 22 April 2013.
