European Integration

Vak
2013-2014

Description

This seminar analyzes the institutional structure of the European Union (EU), notably paying attention to the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council and the Council of the EU since the implementation of the Treaty of Lisbon. We focus on recent patterns of European integration in different policy areas, including economic, fiscal and monetary policy-making. In addition to this, a specific focus is on the developing framework of European diplomatic representation and the analysis of how the EU acts in the framework of selected international organizations, such as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Students contribute to this seminar by active own research on recent developments in European integration, such as the search for fiscal and monetary stability and the role of the EU’s External Action Service (EEAS) in global politics.
