Description
This is a course which students fill according to the needs of their (fieldwork) research. Students can attend methodological courses offered by other study programmes. They are encouraged and helped in finding suitable elective courses outside of the ResMAAS programme to fulfill the 5 EC requirement. Alternatively, students can take the ResMAAS course on methodology which offers lectures and hands-on training on mixed methods. Information on the objective of this course, timetable, assessment, etc. is stated below.
Course objectives
Training in various research methodologies;
To give room to students to seek knowledge and tools outside of their field and establish contacts with scholars and students in various fields;
To match students’ fieldwork needs.
Timetable
If the RESMAAS methodology course is chosen, the schedule is:
Tuesdays 11.00-13.00 hrs.

Course Load
The course comprises 5 EC and the total course load is thus 140 hrs
24 hrs of these will be spent on lectures
116 hrs are to be spent on studying literature and on writing three assignment papers
Assessment method
The assessment is based on three assignment papers.
If a student fails to attain a pass on the basis of the evaluation of the three papers, a second chance will be offered to rewrite all or one or two of the papers and resubmit for evaluation. Decision on this will be taken by the course instructor (See below).
Blackboard
Yes. Available for registered students. Course information, assignments and feedback are exchanged using Blackboard. Students upload their assignment papers on Blackboard.
Reading list
A list of compulsory and recommended literature will be made available a week before the course starts
Registration
Enrollment through uSis for the course and the examination or paper is mandatory.
