Teaching assistance year 1

Vak
2016-2017

Admission requirements

Admission to the RMA-programme Archaeology.

Description

The RMA is a first step in an academic career. Besides research skills, academic positions require teaching skills as well.
In this course, RMA-students provide active assistance in the undergraduate World Archaeology course for first year archaeology students and in this way gain their first teaching experience. The tutorial is characterised by blended learning: feedback is given partly during the tutorial and partly online.

In cooperation with a fellow RMA-student you will meet with a group of about 10-12 first-year students on a weekly basis, and give them tips and tricks on how to read and interpret texts, how to make a summary and how to study for the exams. You will discuss weekly assignments that are posted on BlackBoard, and provide students with constructive feedback. The assignments are outlined in a handbook that was specifically created for this tutorial.

At the start of the year (1 September 2016) you will attend an ICLON crash course on practical didactic skills to prepare you for your first teaching adventure.
