Compulsory for second year students of the RESMAAS programme.
Description
Students are introduced to various academic publication forms and outlets, and the processes and procedures involved in them. What are the major choices and decisions one has to make when preparing a publishable article? Next to content, various lay-out as well as stylisitic issues are discussed. Students will practice their academic writing skills by preparing a publishable academic paper.
Course objectives
At the end of the course, students will be able:
To make reasoned choices for where and how to publish their academic output.
To engage with the processes and procedures for having a paper published.
To write a publishable academic paper on the basis of their research.

Course Load
The course comprises 5 EC and the total course load is thus 140 hrs
3 hours of these will be spent attending the seminar (one afternoon)
137 hrs will be spent on reading and preparing the paper
Assessment method
Evaluation of a publishable paper on a topic of the student’s choice (normally based on his/her field research)
Exam review
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
