MA Classics students at Leiden University can attend courses that are offered by Masterlanguage.
Masterlanguage is a curriculum of courses offered annually to MA students in several languages (among others, classical Greek and Latin). Participating students sign up for Masterlanguage courses while being enrolled in the Leiden Master programme specialisation Classics.
For Classics the courses concern Greek and Latin Epigraphy. The Epigraphy courses are offered by various universities and OIKOS, the National Research School in Classical Studies; the Epigraphy courses on location are organised by the Netherlands Institute in Athens (NIA) and Rome (KNIR).
The 5 EC-course Greek Epigraphy I is taught at the University of Amsterdam. More information will be available in Summer 2018.
The 5 EC-course Greek Epigraphy II (Greek Epigraphy on Location) offers an intensive introduction to Greek epigraphy from the Archaic period to Late Antiquity. The course is primarily intended for MA and PhD students in Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology and Religious Studies, but it is also open to others. Prior knowledge of epigraphy is not necessary, but you need to have a basic level of Greek. The course will be taught in English.
