Description

This Portuguese language course builds on the intermediate written and oral communication skills developed over the course of Portuguese 2. Topics concerning modern Brazil are integrated into language learning through an interactive programme of language acquisition.

Course objectives

This course covers four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, to an interme-diate level. Course-book and other additional, including authentic, materials will be used in the development of communication skills through practical written and oral exercises (indi-vidual and group-based).

Written assessments: written assignment 15%;
Weekly assignments: 20%
Final exam 40% (tests include linguistic exercises – eg. fill-the-gap exercises – and written comprehension or short composition).
Oral assessment: 25% of mark (short presentation and question/answer session).

The final mark for the course is established by determining the weighted average.

Exam review

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
