Admission requirements
Italian for Teachers (specialized course Bachelor Italian Language and Culture) or recognized equivalent course.
A proficiency in Italian at CEFR level B2-C1 in the productive skills and in oral interaction, C1 in the other receptive skills.
Description
The last half-century in the area of language teaching have seen a proliferation of scientific studies. Research in this branch has led to clear effects on the design and the content of L2 teaching-methods; these aren't more conceived (or they should not more conceived) on pure intuitive and impressionistic criteria.
Through a detailed and in-depth analysis of L2 learning methods we will go along the nodal points in the opposite direction what induced the method author to make decisions for the constructions of the tasks and for their subsequence placement in order to identify the scientific ground.
Course objectives
This course aims at acquiring knowledge of the distinctive feature of language teaching as an operational science, of the L2 theories and of research methodology.
Upon completion of this course participants should be able
Course objective 1: to analyze learning methods for Italian as L2;
Course objective 2: to define the relationship between scientific theory and its application in language-teaching;
Course objective 3: to determine the effect of the CEFR on L2 learning;
Course objective 4: to design and to develop educational materials aimed at learning of Italian as L2;
Course objective 5: to analyze the (inter)cultural dimension of the methods to learn Italian;
Course objective 6: to analyze the assessment and self-assessment procedures in the methods to learn Italian;
Course objective 7: to perform an original research based on the analysis data of learning and teaching of Italian as L2;
Course objective 8: to write an accurate paper independently;
Course objective 9: to discuss the outcomes of previous research in the same field critically and to use the criticism in order to review beliefs and theories;
Course objective 10: to review operating and theoretical models in their own field of research critically;
Course objective 11: to present the results of the own research orally and in writing according to the principles and standards of the academic communication.

inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
