Admission requirements
Admission to the parttime blended learning advanced LL.M. programme in Air and Space Law.
Description
Students must write a thesis based upon dedicated research, under the supervision of an academic staff member. On finishing all the required courses , each student has to submit a thesis of 15,000-20,000 words, plus table of content, bibliography and annexes, on a topic of their interest. The topic is to be approved by the supervisor concerned. More information on thesis requirements and procedures is made available on Brightspace.
The thesis must address and analyse a substantive issue of air law or space law. It should not be merely descriptive; it needs to be analytical, well researched, and must demonstrate the student’s ability to synthesize the subject matter. The thesis should use an adequate methodology and ideally be of publishable quality.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the thesis, students should be able to:
Conduct academically sound and substantial research on a topic in the area of air law or space law;
Present their findings of research in writing in a clear and structured way
Investigate and present relatively new and innovative findings.
Timetable
The timetable and deadlines are communicated via Brightspace.
Mode of Instruction
The students are guided initially by the Academic Coordinator and then directed to a supervisor who has specialist knowledge regarding the particular topic or area for bilateral meetings and individual supervision.
Assessment method
The thesis is graded by the supervisor and checked by a second reader.
Only one retake may be granted to a student per course. No retake will be granted to a student who has obtained a weighted average grade for the course of 6.0 or higher, cf Article 12.2 Course and Examination Regulations. No retake will be allowed if a student has not taken the scheduled exam, or any other scheduled form of assessment, and handed in written proof of a conscientious effort to meet the deadline. This is without prejudice to justified reasons of health, family or any other force majeure that could prevent the student from attending class or from participating in the assessment, cf. Article 12.3. The grade obtained in the retake assessment will replace the grade of the failed assessment and will be included in the weighting of the grade for the course.
