Internship BA3

Course
2021-2022

Admission requirements

Bachelor Archaeology first year obtained, plus 30 ec from the remaining BA Archaeology programme.

Description

This internship is meant to master your previously acquired skills to enhance your employability opportunities. You can choose between developing an advanced level of fieldwork skills at a Faculty project or an archaeological company, an internship at a museum or a governmental organisation, work on archaeological materials in a laboratory, or databases or GIS projects.

You need to find and arrange your own internship. Faculty research projects are excellent, but internships at commercial companies, museums, and other research institutes are very valuable working experiences as well.
You can schedule your fieldwork or internship in any period in which you do not have educational obligations, including January. But please note that exams and retakes have priority.

You can choose any project or company you would like to get more insight in, and where you want to build up experience with the workflow. However, you should make sure that the skills practised in the Internship BA3 have an added value to your previous field projects, and lead to a portfolio that shows experience in a diversity of type and level of skills.

The duration of the internship is at least 15 days of minimally 8 working hours (5 ec). Please note that an internship project that lasts longer than 15 days is only counted as 5 ec. The remaining credits will be stated on the diploma as extra-curricular.
Enroll in uSis for this course in order to be enrolled in the Brightspace module. This module will inform you about the general rules and regulations.

For more information about projects or about possibilities for an internship, please contact the internship region coordinators directly; they can advise you in detail about projects, professional companies, museums etc.
