Description

In this course, we focus on the analysis of (relatively) unprocessed language data in the phonology, morphology, and syntax of little analyzed languages, on which the students themselves work, individually and in groups.

Course objectives

At the end of this course, students have acquired and/or improved their skills in:

  • Making analyses of phonological, morphological and syntactic structures of a language previously unknown to them

  • Providing a clear, coherent, and qualitatively sound description of the analysis and/or chosen topic(s)

  • Working with software applications for linguistic fieldwork data, such as Fieldwork Language Explorer (Flex) and/or ELAN.

Two essays (each 50%), one for each block. Both have to be handed in and both need a pass (6,0).

Inspection and feedback

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
