Description

  • In this module we will analyse and discuss the factors driving cyber security from an organisational and transformation perspective. Governance, strategy and change management within the context of cyber security are central.

  • Throughout the course we will focus on the theoretical as well as more applied organisational challenges that come with the implementation of a Cyber resilient Organisation.

Course objectives

Participants have:

  • An understanding of the strategic context in which organisations have to create and maintain a cyber resilient organisation

  • Explored the necessity and potential of cyber security activities as integral part of an organisation in its environment

  • An understanding of the key factors of a resilient Cyber secure organisation, its interconnectivity and the different elements of an effective cyber risk based approach

  • Knowledge and understanding of the concepts and different approaches of organisational theories and organisational change

Participants are able to:

  • Analyse a governance related cyber security problem

  • Study relevant scientific literature to understand the causes of this problem

  • Design a feasible solution for this problem

Assessment method

Presentation

  • 25% of final grade

  • Grade must be compensated

  • re-sit not possible

Written exam (75%)

  • 75% of final grade

  • Grade must be 5.50 or higher to pass the course

  • Re-sit of a fail is possible.

  • Re-sit will take the same form

Only assessments with the weight of 30% and lower are compensable. This means that one does not have to pass an assessment if it weighs 30% or less in order to pass the course, if the average of all assessments combined is at least a 5.5. In addition, assignments weighing up to and including 30% cannot be re-taken, meaning that if one failed an assessment of 30% or less, one is not allowed to redo it and that assessment must be compensated by the other assessment(s).

Compulsory literature and literature for further consultation will be announced via Brightspace.

Registration

No registration is required for lectures and exams.
