The Dutch course Journalistiek Schrijven en Nieuwe Media wordt georganiseerd in semester 1
Entry requirements
This course is meant for second (and if places available third) year students of the Honours College FSW programme, Science & Society track.
Course Description
Journalism, be it in the form of newspapers, blogs, newsletters, tv shows or social media posts is a dynamic, ever changing field that reports on, and heavily influences, the world we live in.
In six meetings you will learn how to prepare different types of journalistic outings, suitable for print or online publication. You will apply this newly gained knowledge by researching, writing and editing different kinds of articles and blogs. Although the emphasis is on writing, other skills will be called upon. Gaining knowledge and understanding is important, but the next step is being able to communicate your (scientific) knowledge to a wider, non-scientific audience, using clear, intelligible and engaging English.
