Admission requirements

Biblical Hebrew 1 (or equivalent knowledge, to the discretion of the teacher. Biblical Hebrew 2 is a requirement for participation in Biblical Hebrew 3.

Description

By means of reading of advanced Biblical Hebrew (prose, poetry, prophecy) the students are made familiar with the finer points of Biblical Hebrew grammar.

Course objectives

  • Advanced knowledge of Biblical Hebrew grammar

  • Ability to read and grammatically analyse advanced Biblical Hebrew prosaic, poetic and prophetic texts.

  • Ability to use relevant literature (dictionaries, commentaries, grammars)

Mode of instruction

Seminar with obligatory attendance.

Assessment method

The final grade is determined by the written interim test towards the end of the semester (40%) and an oral examination at the end of the semester (60%). There is one single oral resit (100%).
