Admission requirements
Good knowledge of Vedic Sanskrit. In order to follow the course, students must have passed the courses “Vedic Sanskrit” and / or “Reading Vedic texts”.
Description
During the course we will read a number of Vedic texts (both poetry and prose) and discuss various issues of Vedic and Indo-European historical morphology, syntax and etymology. The students will learn to work with all kinds of tools (editions, dictionaries, concordances, commentaries, etc.) which have been developed for analyzing Vedic texts.
Course objectives
At the end of the course, the student will be able to analyze and translate Vedic texts, using the available tools. The student will also be able to look up and to critically assess the etymology of Sanskrit words.

There will be a resit for students who did not pass the first examination.
Inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
