Course Description
This course provides an introduction to the analysis of multivariate data, in particular nominal and/or ordinal data. It includes exercises in analysing data using the SPSS modules for Multiple Categorical Analysis (MCA) and Categorical Principal Components Analysis (CATPCA).
In this course students will also work on the analysis of data they will collect during the Fieldwork NL course.
Course Objectives
Insight into methods and techniques for multivariate analysis. In particular: (a) being able to explain what multivariate analysis entails; (b) being able to explain for a given research question and collected data which of the discussed techniques can be used for analysis.
Gaining experience with the practice of multivariate analysis, including by using one or more techniques for analysing data. Note: we do not expect students to have become seasoned researchers by the end of the course. That takes years of experience!
Schedule
The lecture schedule can be found on the website.
Practicals take place at dates and times t.b.a.; classification per practical group is made during the first lecture - registration for these groups via uSis is not necessary.
