Personal & Professional Development III (Bachelor year 3)

Course
2023-2024

Description

This year we will work on dealing with your own future. We will help you keep a flexible mindset, but also to keep your focus when committing to important choices you have made (inside or outside the realm of your studies). We will re-gauge your current state of personal and interpersonal competences and how these relate to your own motives, passion, and mission.
The seminars build on the work you did during previous HC years in the Personal & Professional Development track. We will again use the blended, flipped-classroom approach, where much of the work will take place outside the meetings.

Course objectives

At the end of this course, we aim that you:

  • have obtained more detailed insight into the learning path you want to project into the future;

  • are able to motivate your direction of choice, and commit to that amongst a diversity of available possibilities;

  • have a clear image, and are able to make a commitment to the behavior your future path requires.

Mode of instruction

In this course, a substantial part of time investment and study takes place before and after the meetings. Preparatory assignments (pre-seminar) and integrative ones (post-seminar) are part of the compulsory tasks. Be aware preparation is already required two weeks before the first seminar.
The study load is 1 EC (28 hours). The hours are distributed as follows:

  • 2 Preparatory assignments, including literature study and interviews (2 x 3 hours)

  • 2 Seminars (2 x 3 hours)

  • 2 Integrative assignments, including literature study and interviews (2 x 6 hours)

  • Peer feedback (max. 4 hours)

Assessment methods

You will receive qualitative (peer) feedback on your reflections. Assessment of your participation (pass/ fail) will be based on concise and timely execution of preparatory assignments, commitment during meetings, and reflective capacity and skill in the integrative assignments.

Language

We will speak English during the seminars.
