Admission requirements

This course is available for all students who passed Swahili 2.

This course is not available in academic year 2023-2024.

Description

During this course you will gain more in-depth knowledge of Swahili. We will focus on different subjects like history, culture, human rights and gender issues. You will read stories and newspaper articles in Swahili and do presentations in Swahili about these subjects.

Course objectives

This course enables the student to achieve level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

This course is the last course in a series of three language acquisition courses. The final objective of this course series is to obtain an intermediate level of proficiency in Swahili, aimed at communication with people in the region in everyday social situations and enabling students to follow current affairs in the region via various media.

  • Reading: B1+

  • Writing: B1

  • Listening: A2+

  • Speaking: A2+

Weighing

  • Participation: 20%

  • Written exam: 40%

  • Listening exam: 20%

  • Oral exam: 20%

If the End Grade is insufficient there is a possibility of retaking the full 80% of the exams. No resit for the tutorial (participation and homework) is possible.

Inspection and feedback

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
