Admission requirements
You write your bachelor’s thesis in the last semester of your degree programme. Full-time students must already have earned 130 EC (or will do so in the near future). Part-time students must already have earned 140 EC. Following the thesis seminar is obligatory.
Description
You conclude the bachelor’s programme by writing a thesis. Once your thesis has been approved, you will receive a mark. If you wish to have an evaluation meeting with your supervisor, you can request one.
The thesis is worth 10 ECTS and must be between approx. 7,500 and a maximum of 10,000 words in length, excluding, footnotes, bibliography and appendices. Appendices should be submitted as a separate file.
** For tips, a more detailed description of the procedure and for more information about graduation, see the website.
The student has to complete the digital form to submit the topics of their choice (topic A and topic B). The chosen topics must be from two different specialisations within the English programme. Keep in mind that you submit two well-grounded topics that you would like to work on, as you don’t know whether you have to work on topic A or B. Both topics must be accompanied by a description of no more than 150 words and must include 3 secondary academic sources.
Please note that the deadline to submit the topics of your choice is 20 August when you write your thesis in the first semester and 10 January when you write your thesis in the second semester.
The thesis Committee will appoint your supervisor. The student contacts the appointed supervisor, to plan an initial meeting, takes part in the thesis seminar, does more research, and starts writing. The student and supervisor will determine deadlines and consultation arrangements.
