Admission requirements
Only students of the Advanced MSc International Relations and Diplomacy programme can take this course.
Description
The alternative internship module is formally conducted in the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) and focuses on international organizations and global governance. It is an alternative to the regular internship module and has a very explicit research focus.
The internship will be conducted during the fourth block of the first year of the MIRD programme; the minimum requirement is 10 weeks (full time).
Course objectives
The alternative internship aims to familiarise students with the work of an institute that is conducting activities in the domain of international relations or diplomacy. It draws students into ongoing research activities and projects, with the aim to produce (co-authored) publications, and gain insight into various practical activities.
The ‘alternative internship’ will allow students to build their professional networks, by engaging with organisations in The Hague. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about possible career paths (as the focus of their work will notably be on international, regional and non-governmental organisations). The module will offer research-oriented tasks that help create insights into and links with relevant (international) organisations, as well as practical activities.
