Description

The course “Data stewardship for sustainable health and care” is introducing the concepts and techniques that enable to get the most out of data, including the manipulation of computational tools that involve programming and command line interactions. The course is structured around the CRISP-DM framework, where data science activities are divided into 6 steps. At each step, the course will combine theory and hands-on applications to progress on a suitable dataset, for instance data that can mimic Population Health Management data sources.

Course objectives

At the end of this course: students understand how data science methods and tools can be used for evidence-based analysis in achieving sustainable health and healthcare. This will help students understand what’s feasible, how data science works behind the scenes, and how to better communicate with data scientists in a teamwork effort. The focus is on the interaction between health and healthcare organizations and challenges with computer science solutions by adopting a data stewardship approach to data science.
