From Megalith to Celtic field

Lectures about current themes within, building on knowledge of the BA-phase.

Admission requirements

BA degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or a relevant discipline.
SAP and exchange students: admission after approval by the Graduate School of Archaeology.

Learning objectives

*Knowledge of and insight in interpretative approaches to data from the Neolithicum to the Iron Age (megalithic monuments, beaker cultures, hoarding practices, Hallstatt fürstengräber, settlement and economy, burial landscapes and social structure); *Is able to critically assess current literature and research with respect to applicability and background of the research and voice one’s well-argumented opinion; *Knowledge of and insight in theoretical approaches: exchange theory, personality and identity, gender and is able to discuss this; *Is able to make a well-argumented decision of which theoretical model to apply on data; *Is able to apply theoretical models on different types on data and process this into an analytical essay.

Method of instruction

Formal lectures and discussion on the basis of written assignments.

Examination

Active participation, written assignments.
