An in depth knowledge of Pleistocene stratigraphy and ecology is a conditio sine qua non for workers in the field of human origins. These seminars confront the students with the latest developments in this field, drawing upon knowledge of specialists within as well as outside of the Leiden Department of Archaeology. The first part will focus on a general overview of the European proxy and related debates. The second part will examine specific case studies in depth.
