The main themes of basic cancer research will be dealt with in this course, including implications of groundbreaking new research for diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Teachers are fundamental researchers and clinicans involved in such state-of-the-art-work. Topics include e.g. signal transduction, cell adhesion, molecular diagnostics, immunotherapy of cancer. Each topic will be dealt with in lectures, as well as in tutorials, usually lasting two days.

Examination
The final grade is based on a written exam, in which the various topics are dealt with in the form of essay questions. The student has passed if the final mark is equal to or higher than 6,0 in a range from 1-10
Course requirements/recommendations
Prior knowledge: BSc in Biological Sciences, programme Molecular Cell Biology and Bioinformatics, or closely related programme
Target group: Open to master students from the masters Oncology and Medical Biology. The course is also open to students of other related disciplines and from all Universities in the Netherlands
