Description
Objectives of the course
The course is part of the Minor Economics. In this course, the student will attain knowledge and an understanding of the issues in the field of Economic Integration. The student will be trained to independently analyse these issues.
Short description of the course
In the 1990s, the European Union faced many challenges. The member states worked hard to establish the Economic and Monetary Union and to introduce the Euro in 1999. Furthermore, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe applied for membership and in 2004, ten new members joined the EU. In this course we will discuss both deepening and widening of the European Union.
At the end of this course the student will have a thorough understanding of the economic policies of the European Union and of the interaction of national economic policies and those of the European Union. He/she will be able to link the legal and political developments in the European Union to economic developments and will be able to present the relevant discussions.
